New Labelling Laws For Australian Food Packaging from July 2016

From July 1, 2016 the Australian Government is introducing new country of origin food labelling laws to make it clearer and easier to find where the products you buy are produced, grown, made or packed.

Australian businesses selling food in retail stores will need to begin applying for the labels from July 2016, but there will be a two year transition period allowing businesses to manage the change while still selling their existing stock.

If you have a food business you will have two years until the new labels are mandatory but you can start designing and applying your new labels now. If you need help with the design and creation of your new label, or if you feel now is the time to update your existing brand packaging, the team at Bonser Design can help you - we have worked with many food companies create stylish label solutions. Check out how we redefined the 'Swagman's Best' brand and created a compelling brand narrative enticing customers to pick them off the shelves. For the Truffle & Wine Co. we devised a gift box with a simple, sophisticated design to showcase products for their range, including truffle oil, mustard and honey. This packaging solution won gold in the category of "Packaging - Other" at the 2015 Printing Industries Craftsmanship Awards, Western Australia.
